Collateralized loans

Collateralized loans with crypto collateral

Understand collateralized loans, crypto collateral, BTC/ETH loan-to-value risk and how LendX explains collateral-backed credit for Indian users.

Collateralized loans and crypto collateral

A collateralized loan is a loan backed by an asset. Traditional examples include gold loans, property-backed loans or securities-backed credit. Crypto-backed loans apply the same broad collateral principle to digital assets such as BTC and ETH.

The major difference is volatility. Crypto collateral can move faster than traditional collateral, so LTV monitoring, collateral buffers and margin communication become central to customer protection and product design.

Why LTV is the core risk indicator

LTV, or loan-to-value, compares the outstanding loan to the collateral value. If collateral value falls, LTV rises. A transparent product should show customers where they are before they enter risky zones.

Key risks to understand before joining

  • Crypto prices can move sharply, which can increase LTV and create margin pressure.
  • Loan availability, pricing, collateral requirements and onboarding depend on eligibility and partner lender approval.
  • The LendX beta is planned for Dec 2026, so waitlist registration is not a loan application or credit approval.

Frequently asked questions

What is a collateralized loan?

A collateralized loan is backed by an asset pledged as security. If the borrower fails to meet the terms, the lender may have rights over the collateral according to the final agreement.

How is crypto collateral different?

Crypto collateral can be more volatile, so pricing, collateral buffers and LTV alerts are especially important.

Is LendX a loan approval platform today?

No. The current website is a waitlist and education experience for the planned Dec 2026 beta.
